Jean Monnet is the part of Erasmus+ dedicated to promoting excellence in EU studies in higher education around the world.
Jean Monnet Actions aim to build bridges between academics, researchers and EU policymakers.
There is an emphasis on the study of and research on EU integration and in understanding Europe's place in a globalised world.
Jean Monnet Actions are organised and applied for via higher education institutions but, if you are an individual working in higher education, you may be interested in finding out what the different opportunities could mean for you.

Modules: Jean Monnet Modules are short teaching programmes or courses on EU studies. They can be introductory modules on the EU, courses that concentrate on a specific aspect or discipline within EU studies, or be more multi-disciplinary in approach.

Chairs: Jean Monnet Chairs are teaching posts with a specialisation in European Union studies for university professors or senior lecturers. These are posts lasting 3 years.

Centres of Excellence: The Centres gather the expertise and understanding of high-level experts to develop links with and between various subjects related to the EU, as well as creating transnational activities and links with other institutions in other countries.

Support to Associations: Erasmus+ provides the opportunity for associations to carry out a range of activities to publicise information about the EU among a broader public.

Networks: Jean Monnet Networks aim to foster the creation and development of consortia to gather information, build knowledge, exchange ideas, and promote European integration.

Projects: Erasmus+ provides the opportunity for organisations to manage projects in three core fields – Innovation, Cross-fertilisation, and Spread content

What is the aim of Jean Monnet Activities?
Jean Monnet Activities are designed to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies worldwide. The activities also foster the dialogue between the academic world and policy-makers, in particular with the aim of enhancing governance of EU policies.
European Union studies comprise the study of Europe in its entirety with particular emphasis on the European integration process in both its internal and external aspects. The discipline also covers the role of the EU in a globalised world and in promoting an active European citizenship and dialogue between people and cultures.

- Teaching and Research: Jean Monnet Modules, Chairs and Centres of Excellence.
- Support to Associations: Jean Monnet support to Associations.
- Policy debate with the Academic World: Jean Monnet Networks and Jean Monnet Projects.
Key activities include courses, research, conferences, networking activities, and publications in the field of EU studies.
