Campus Resources for Learning Chinese
NCHU Chinese Language Center was officially recognized by the Ministry of Education. It is listed as an authorized institution for issuing various visas by overseas offices and the Central Taiwan Office of the National Immigration Agency. The primary goal of our Chinese classes is to provide high-quality Chinese and cultural learning environments for foreigners, in line with the Ministry of Education's policy of academic internationalization.
Features
The Chinese classes are conducted in small groups, with experienced teachers who are all certified by the Ministry of Education for Mandarin teaching. They are skilled in guiding students to appreciate the beauty of Chinese and its culture in an engaging and accessible manner.

1. 2026 Spring New Policies
- ποΈSemester-based Registration: Registration is now conducted once per semester. Registration will be held uniformly at the beginning of the semester. Please note that, in principle, no additional free courses will be released mid-semester.
- π°Single Deposit, Multiple Courses: Good news! A single deposit of NT$2,000 covers all the courses you select for the entire semester. Feel free to enroll in more than one class!
- πͺSmart Planning: We encourage you to evaluate your schedule and language level carefully before applying to make the most of your learning experience.
2. Application & Placement Test Process
- Step 1: π§After submitting this form, check your inbox for a Registration Confirmation Email. Please complete the deposit payment as soon as possible.
- Step 2:π Once we verify your payment, we will send you the credentials for your Chinese Placement Test via email.
- Step 3: β±οΈ Please complete the online test on your own before the specified deadline.
- Step 4: π§π« After completing the placement test, you will receive a course selection link. Please choose classes that fits your level and schedule within the given period.
- Step 5: π’ After the selection deadline, the official admission list for each course will be announced.
β οΈ Notice: If no class suits your level or time, please email the organizer for a refund at the end of the semester.
3. Deposit Refund Policy (δΏθιιθ²»θ¦η―)
To receive your refund at the end of the semester, please meet ANY ONE of the following conditions:
- β The overall attendance rate of ALL ENROLLED courses must reach 80% or above.
- βΉοΈ If you are unable to attend any courses due to personal or unforeseen reasons after the placement test.
β οΈ Important Reminder on Refund Schedule: All deposit refunds (including those for students who withdraw early) will be processed collectively at the end of the semester. We kindly ask for your patience as no early refunds can be issued during the term.
- Practical Chinese language credit courses: This credit course aims to enhance learners' comprehensive language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Conversation Chinese: This course focuses on improving international students' oral expression in Chinese through simulated everyday scenarios, allowing them to develop deeper conversational skills.
- Workplace Chinese: This course is designed to strengthen international students' Chinese abilities for employment in Taiwan, helping them master essential skills for interviews, communication, and negotiation.
- TOCFL Preparation Course: This course offers two different levels each season to help students enhance their language skills, increasing their competitiveness for employment in Taiwan.
- Chinese Courses (NUST/Online): This course provides two different levels each season, offering students an online platform to learn Chinese while helping them improve their language skills and competitiveness for employment in Taiwan.
Target Audience: Non-NCHU Students
6. Chinese Intensive Courses: This course aims to develop students' fluent Chinese expression through solid training.
*Scholarship: Students who enroll in it and are accepted into an NCHU degree program can apply for the NCHU Excellence in Chinese Language Scholarship for International Students (Link).

TOCFL Result
The following diagram shows the grading method of the Chinese reading test and its correspondence with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ββ(CEFR), the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages ββ(ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines), and the Taiwan Benchmarks for the Chinese Language (TBCL).
