【OIA】NCHU and Thammasat University Sign University-Level MOU to Deepen Taiwan–Thailand Academic Cooperation under the New Southbound Policy

National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) continues to strengthen international linkages and diverse academic collaborations in line with Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. On October 23, 2025, NCHU signed a university-level Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thailand’s prestigious Thammasat University (TU). The MOU was signed by NCHU President Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan and TU Rector Prof. Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, symbolizing the universities’ joint leadership in advancing academic cooperation under the New Southbound initiative.
The MOU exchange ceremony was represented by Dr. Chi-Chung Chou, Senior Vice President for International Affairs, NCHU and Prof. Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, Rector, TU, and witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk (Vice Rector for International Affairs, TU), Dr. Ming-Der Yang (Dean, College of Engineering, NCHU), Dr. San-Yi Yang (Vice Dean, College of Law and Politics, NCHU), Dr. Jung-Yu Lai (Vice Dean, College of Management, NCHU), Dr. Eric M.P. Chiu (Vice Dean for Research and Development, NCHU), Dr. Tung-Chieh Tsai (Director, Advanced Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, NCHU), and Dr. Edith Su (Director, Academic Exchange Division, Office of International Affairs, NCHU).
Thammasat University, one of Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious universities, has an enrollment of about 30,000 students and comprises six colleges. NCHU’s College of Law and Politics, College of Management, and Advanced Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences have long maintained academic collaboration agreements with TU, achieving excellent joint research outcomes and international publications. In addition, NCHU’s College of Life Sciences and College of Engineering have also engaged in substantive research collaboration with TU, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation through academic exchange activities.
President Dr. Fuh-Jyh Jan stated that fostering partnerships with top universities in New Southbound countries and promoting multi-college collaborations have been key goals since he took office. He expressed great pleasure at Rector Dr. Chardchawarn’s visit, noting that Thammasat University is one of Thailand’s most reputable and comprehensive institutions. He added that NCHU looks forward to cultivating globally minded talents with TU and contributing jointly to academic advancement and social progress in both nations.
The signing of this university-level MOU marks a new milestone in NCHU–TU relations, symbolizing a more comprehensive partnership in education and research, and reaffirming NCHU’s leadership in the New Southbound region. Moving forward, both universities will continue to expand interdisciplinary research, faculty and student exchanges, and joint academic programs, further strengthening higher education ties between Taiwan and Thailand.
