【OIA】NCHU International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program)

Program Intro

The Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan launched the "International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program)" for talents coming to Taiwan for study and employment after graduation. This program integrates government, industry, and university resources to expand the recruitment of international students with superior industrial talent.

Features of the Program

1. Focused Fields

Programs are offered in key industries including STEM, Finance, and Semiconductor.

2. Funding Options
  • Type 1: Joint Funding by Government and Companies
    The National Development Council (NDC) provides industry-university scholarships covering:
    - Necessary administrative expenses prior to arrival (health check, visa, document authentication)
    - One-way airfare to Taiwan
    - Tuition and miscellaneous fees for up to 2 years (maximum NTD 100,000 per year)
    Participating companies provide:
    - Monthly living stipend of at least NTD 10,000 per student
    - Internship allowance in accordance with the national minimum wage

  • Type 2: Fully Sponsored by Companies
    All the above-mentioned expenses are fully covered by the participating companies.

3. Obligations after Graduation
  • Type 1: Students must work in Taiwan for the same duration as the funding received. After fulfilling the obligation, they may choose to stay or return to their home country.
  • Type 2: Students must fulfill the same employment duration, but may work in Taiwan or be assigned to overseas branches or Taiwanese enterprises abroad, based on company needs.

Scholarship

1. Scholarship Coverage

Admitted students will receive industry-university scholarships provided by the National Development Council (NDC) or participating companies. The subsidies include:

  • Administrative Expenses: A one-time subsidy for necessary expenses prior to arrival in Taiwan (health check, visa, document authentication).
    - New Southbound and other countries: up to NTD 10,000
    - Europe and America: up to NTD 25,000 (reimbursement of actual expenses)
  • Airfare Subsidy: A one-time subsidy for the most direct economy-class one-way ticket to Taiwan.
    - New Southbound countries: up to NTD 9,000
    - Europe and America: up to NTD 35,000 (reimbursement of actual expenses)
  • Tuition and Fees: Subsidies for up to 2 years after registration, capped at NTD 100,000 per year (NTD 50,000 per semester). 
    - For the second year, students must pass the TOCFL (Mandarin-taught programs: B1 or above; English-taught programs: A2 or above in BOTH listening and reading), and be evaluated by both the university and companies for continued support.
2. Monthly Stipend

Each admitted student will receive a monthly stipend of NTD 10,000 (or above) from the participating companies.

3. Student Obligations
  • Students funded by NDC must work in Taiwan for a duration equal to the scholarship period (e.g., one year of funding = one year of work in Taiwan). Companies have priority in hiring.
  • Students fully funded by companies must fulfill the same employment duration, but may be assigned to overseas branches or Taiwanese enterprises abroad based on company needs.
