 Stay away from SMS frauds! 

 

Recently, more and more scam messages sent via mobile imessage/ SMS.
For example:

  • Recommend high-paying part-time jobs
  • Recommend highly profitable investment plan, loan plan, etc
  • The fake telecom operators said they would offer preferential treatment
  • Notify overdue payment
  • "I haven't received any reply from you for a long time. Please add me as a friend on Line!"

Do not click on the link to avoid being cheated.

It is recommended to turn off iMessage or install who's call app to avoid interference from scam calls.

The Overseas Community Affairs Council specially produces anti-fraud EDMs in Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Burmese and English. Please pay more attention to avoid falling into the trap of unscrupulous traders.

Frauds in applying for a job! 

Remind students to do the "3 preparations" before job hunting and adhere to the "7 principles" when applying for a job.

"3 Preparation":

  • Inform relatives and friends of the location of the interview before the interview, or ask them to accompany you
  • Check whether the content of the recruitment advertisement is reasonable
  • Take the initiative to research recruitment companies to see what industry and position you are applying for.

"7 rules" should be grasped during the interview:

  • Do not pay any money. 
    Do not pay any gratuitous or unreasonable fees such as publicity photos, training fees, security deposit, etc.
  • Do not buy anythihg.
    Do not purchase tangible or intangible products required to be purchased by the company under any name.
  • Do not apply for a card.
    Don't apply for a credit card on the spot if the company asks you to.
  • Do not leave any your personal documents.
    Carry your ID and credit card with you and do not give them to the company.
  • Don't sign randomly.
    Do not sign any documents, contracts at will. Double-check on all documents. 
  • Do not drink/take any food.
    Do not drink alcohol or unknown beverages or take any food provided by others.
  • Do not work illegally
    Do not engage in illegal work or work for illegal companies.

Nowadays, with the development of Internet communication, social media and instant messaging have become the most common channels for young people to communicate with each other. As a result, some fraunds are recently sent through social media such as Facebook/ Messenger/ Line/ Instagram. Please do more checks and be alert to avoid falling into job hunting traps.
