Office of International Affairs
Home> Introduction

The Office of International Affairs was established on August 1st, 2006, with Professor Ooi Hong-Kean as its first Dean. This office is responsible for international academic collaboration with various foreign universities and welcoming foreign students to our university.

The Office of International Affairs consists of two major divisions, namely, Division of Academic Exchange and Division of Foreign Student Affairs. The former is responsible for international student summer programs, signing of sister-universities relationship, hosting foreign scholars and sending our students and faculty staff overseas for academic exchange. The Division of Foreign Student Affairs is in charge of the recruitment of new foreign students, helping the foreign students with their life and study at NCHU, such as accommodation, health insurance, medical examination, part-time work permit, alien registration, consultation, scholarships and extra-curricular activities.

Through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with internationally renowned universities to facilitate both faculty and students exchange program, we were able to provide both foreign and domestic students an opportunity to enrich their student life through cross-cultural interactions. This, in turn will widen their perspective of the international horizon.

With the unequivocal support from our President Shaw, we were able to provide memorable activities such as field trips, educational programs and cultural exchange programs for foreign students. These programs allowed them to experience the rich Taiwanese culture and also expose them to the high standard of tertiary education in Taiwan.

For the academic year, starting in September 2006, the number of degree-seeking and exchange foreign students at NCHU is expected to exceed 140!
